In the late afternoon of March 6, the Oakridge Police Department was dispatched W 2nd St in Oakridge to a First Student school bus carrying Oakridge School District students. The bus was stopped on W 2nd because the bus driver reported hearing a student mention the word “gun” on the bus.

Oakridge Police investigated the incident, determined there was no gun present on the bus, and no threats of any kind made. One student mentioned the word “gun” on the bus in conversation with a friend. That student was released to a parent. The bus supervisor and school district are handling the incident internally.
