Heat has been intense this summer – and may get worse. Educate yourself about heat-related issues.
From the Oregon Health Authority website:
People who work outdoors, whether as a source of income or for DIY home projects and landscaping, are more likely to become dehydrated. This makes them more likely to get heat-related illness. STOP all activity and get to a cool environment if you feel faint or weak.
Employment settings have rules, regulations and guidance related to heat.
Seek medical care immediately if you or someone you are working with has symptoms of heat-related illness.
Want more information to protect yourself and your workers from heat-related illnesses? Take Oregon OSHA’s Heat Illness Prevention Online Course.
The Oregon Safety Assessment Program (OrSAP) provides professional resources to local governments to help with post-disaster building safety evaluations.
About the program
When disaster strikes a community, numerous facility and infrastructure inspections may be necessary. At the request of local government, OrSAP makes available volunteers to conduct rapid post-disaster building safety evaluations related to structural safety and habitability. OrSAP evaluators also provide recommended posting of placards that denote the condition of each structure evaluated.
Become a Volunteer
Volunteers are a vital part of the OrSAP program. We are seeking qualified volunteers – engineers, architects, building inspectors, general contractors, or individuals with ICC certifications- who want to be certified as a post-disaster safety evaluator and have completed an approved ATC-20 OrSAP training course.

Chances are that you filled out a paper form to get your CCB license. Until just recently, there was no electronic CCB application available. We’re pleased to say that has changed!
At the end of the spring, the CCB unrolled an online application for people seeking new CCB licenses. You can find a link to the application on our website. If you know someone who is applying for a new CCB license, or if you are applying for a new license yourself, use the link on our website to create an account and submit your new application. The new online application has many benefits!
- Faster turn-around time
- Pay by credit card or ACH
- Get instant notification when the application has been received
- Follow your progress online
If you’re already a CCB licensed contractor, then this may not impact you. However, there are many reasons that existing contractors may need to apply for a new license. If you do, you now have more resources to make the process faster and easier.
The RMI is a person of importance on a CCB license. Many CCB licenses are not allowed to operate without one. To become an RMI, you must take the 16-hour pre-license class and pass the test.
If your RMI quits, retires, or passes away, your business may struggle to find a replacement. You may appoint a temporary RMI for 14 days, but after the 14-day period, your license must have a permanent RMI in place. Considering that an RMI needs to take a 16-hour class and pass the CCB test, 14 days is not a long time to find a new RMI.
Appoint a Second RMI Before You Need One
Your license can have more than one RMI! Appoint a second RMI now – before one is needed – and you can avoid a lot of stress if one RMI should leave your business suddenly.
Some tips:
- An RMI employee may not be an RMI on more than one license at a time.
- If your RMI does leave the business and you need a temporary RMI, there’s a form to fill out to notify CCB of your temporary RMI
- If you need to add your RMI, there’s a form for that too
