By GARY CARL/for The Herald — The candidates for the 2024 Oakridge City Council participated in a “Candidate’s Forum” sponsored by the Oakridge – Westfir Chamber of Commerce and the Lane County Chapter of the League of Women Voters. Jude Anderson representing the Chamber of Commerce and Nancy Mills from the League of Women Voters officiated.
The Forum was held at the Oakridge High School Auditorium on October 9th at 6 p.m. The event was well attended by upwards of 50 people anxious to hear the candidates’ views on local topics of concern.
This Forum gave members of the public an opportunity to see and hear all the candidates not only as to substance but also their demeanor.

The candidates seated from left to right in the picture above are: Marty Scott, Kelly Brewer, Chrissy Hollett, Aaron Davis, Thaddeus Carter and Dan Barkley. Not shown is Bee Havior.
Questions for the candidates had been submitted by the audience in writing in advance and were aggregated and screened by several volunteers. The Moderator, Nancy Mills, presented questions to the candidates in a rotating manner so as to maintain equanimity.
