70th Annual Tree Planting Festival – Oakridge, OR
The 70th annual Oakridge-Westfir Tree Planting Festival (TPF) kicks off May 5-7, 2023! This community tradition will feature events before and throughout the May 5th-7th weekend. We encourage everyone to come home or come outside to participate in these wonderful activities!
Here’s a rundown of the events
Pre-events
● April 22nd: Uptown Clean-Up sponsored by Uptown Business Revitalization Association
● April 24th-28th: Local Restaurant Entree Showcase features a daily TPF food special
● April 28th-30th: Oakridge Disc Golf Club event, the Mountain Town Throw Down
● April 29th- May 13th or until prizes run out: Geo-Cache Scavenger Hunt
Festival events
Friday, May 5th:
● 10 AM–4 PM, Quilt Show at the Methodist Church
● 6 PM, First Friday Art Walk throughout Uptown Oakridge along East 1
st Street
● 7 PM, Talent Show and Tree Planting Teens Showcase at the OHS Auditorium
● 6 PM doors open, Zero Clearance Theater Production of A Bad Year for Tomatoes by Patrick Stewart
at Lion Mountain Bakery
Saturday, May 6th:
● 9 AM–5 PM, Vendor and Non-Profit Fair at Oakridge Elementary School Field
● 10 AM–4 PM, Quilt Show at the Methodist Church
● 10 AM–2 PM, Westfir Oakridge Local Food Hub (WOLFH) plant sale at the Methodist Church
● 11 AM, Grand Parade heading west to east on 1st Street
● 12 PM, Oakridge Museum Tours at the Oakridge Museum
● 12–2 PM, Kids Carnival and Natural Resource Fair at Methodist Church
● 1 PM, preK-4th Grade Mini Olympics sponsored by Orchid Clinic and the US Forest Service at the Oakridge High School Field
● 1 PM, Car Show at the Oakridge Post Office
● 5:30 PM doors open, Zero Clearance Theater Production dinner theater
Sunday, May 7th
● 8 AM sign up, Salmon Creek Walk and Fun Run at Greenwaters Park
● 9 AM, Golf Tournament at the Circle Bar Golf Course
● 9 AM–3 PM, Vendor and Non-Profit Fair at Oakridge Elementary School Field
● 11 AM, Family Bike Ride at 1st and Pine Street in Oakridge
● 1 PM, Ceremonial Tree Planting at Circle Bar Golf Course

The TPF volunteer committee chairpersons President Vanessa Tharp, Secretary Guen Digioia, and Treasurer Jeanee Martin are pleased to invite you to the longest-standing tree planting festival where we celebrate stewardship and conservation while honoring our communities’ timber history.
George Custer lives in Oakridge with his wife Sayre. George is a former smokejumper from his hometown of Cave Junction, a former captain in the U.S. Marine Corps. and ran a construction company in Southern California. George assumed the volunteer duties as the Editor of the Highway 58 Herald in 2022. He loves riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, building all things wood, and playing drums on the weekends in his office.
