A visit with Lowell City Administrator, Jeremy Caudle

By GEORGE CUSTER/Editor/The Herald  —  I’ve been feeling a little guilty about not including most of what we have come to call “the lower 58” communities in The Herald. I could make all kinds of excuses, but you, our readers, don’t want to hear them.

I decided that I should take a trip into Lowell and at least apologize in person to the Lowell City Administrator, Jeremy Caudle. I also wanted to meet the person that I had heard so many good things about.

My impression is that they’re all true.

I really didn’t intend to do an interview, but it sort of turned into one. He’s an impressive individual.  Jeremy graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy (summa cum laude). He also holds a Master of Public Administration.

Jeremy is originally from North Carolina, where he started his career. He began his journey toward the West Coast with a stop as budget manager for Mesa County, Colorado.

I couldn’t help but notice his accent. Maybe it was inappropriate, but I couldn’t help asking if he was from the South because of it. He said, “heck no, I’m from upstate New York!” OK, he got me.

I asked Jeremy if his partner, Leslie, was getting involved in the community. Jeremy replied, “Whenever we have events or social gatherings in Lowell, she comes along with me. Now that things are finally starting to open back up, we are finding more things to do. We both enjoy the wealth of outdoors recreation in the area, such as hiking and camping”.

Jeremy is, not surprisingly, proud of what the future holds for Lowell. Recent land developments have started to make an impact on the overall economy of the city, with planned developments moving ahead full-steam.
