WHAT: Journalists will have the opportunity this week to interview members of an Oregon State University student team that will travel to Utah to attempt to set the Bonneville Salt Flats land speed record for 50cc motorcycles (modified partial streamlining class) during the Southern California Timing Association Speed Week event Aug. 3-9.
The Bonneville record in their category is just over 83 mph. At an SCTA event in May at El Mirage Lake in California, under conditions similar to those at the legendary salt flats, the bike exceeded 87 mph.
