By DEAN REA/Correspondent/The Herald — “Back to the Roots” is the theme of festivities taking place his weekend at the Lost Valley Education and Event Center.
“This is an old tradition where we would come together every month and commune through dance on the land we know as Lost Valley,” according to See Bridger, neighborhood outreach director. “We welcome you to join us as we return to our roots for our first public dance event in 2021.”
Saturday events will focus on land work, fire remediation and gardening. Dancing begins at 6:45 p.m. followed by a dinner and more dancing. Event leaders include Sasa Rose, Kokayi Nosakhere, DAR and Youssoupha Sidibe.
Participants may camp out during the night there, enjoy a breakfast Sunday morning and attend various workshops. An “Ecstatic Dance” with Luke Mandala at 10 a.m. will conclude the festivities.
The center is located at 81868 Lost Valley Lane, Dexter. General admission cost is $64 and parking $15. Half of the profits are donated to the Dexter fire department.
