By DIANE KAHLER/Correspondent/The Herald — Much to the relief of local residents and tourists alike, Crescent Lake Resort’s bar and restaurant are set to reopen Thursday, May 27.

Closed since March 2020 because of COVID-19 restrictions, the lodge and resort are owned by Hoodoo Recreation Services Inc., headquartered in Coburg.  Cody Mitchell is the manager of Crescent Lake Resort and Lisa Horn is the assistant manager.

The full reopening has been complicated because the two managers are facing the difficult task of hiring.  The resort requires many different skills to operate fully: Cooks, bartenders, wait staff, housekeeping, maintenance, etc.  Potential new hires want to be in this location, but lodging for seasonal employees is very hard to find.

The resort, like others in the high Cascades, has been open for cabin reservations during the pandemic. The resort offers 21 different cabins for rent ranging in price from $110 to $250. The units (except studios) offer full kitchens. One-, two- and three-bedroom units are available.  All units accept pets. When pets are outdoors at the resort they must be on a leash.

Reservations may be made online here or by calling 541-433-2505.

If you are renting a cabin at the resort you also have use of the boat launch and parking for your boat trailer. For visitors who are not registered guests, the day-use facilities are available, including boat launching for a $10 fee.

This year only non-motorized equipment rentals will be offered: canoes, kayaks, a double kayak, aqua cycles and paddle boards as well as cornhole game boards.  The resort offers moorage slips for guests while staying at the resort and for the general public as availability permits. Seasonal boat slips are currently full but there is a waiting list if you wish to be added.

The general public will be directed and instructed as to the use of the launch and docks at the resort.  The general public cannot leave boats or trailers unattended on resort property. Once launched, the general public will be required to take the boat trailer to the U.S. Forest Service Crescent Lake Campground parking lot for trailers for a $5 fee. To return to the resort boaters can use the path across the dam.  The resort has extended the docks to allow space to dock boats while the trailers are being moved.

The opening of The Pines Bar & Grill at the resort has something for every occasion, whether you need a quick snack break or a full meal with friends and family, The diverse menu includes appetizers, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, steaks, pasta, shrimp,  fish, soup, salads, vegetarian options and desserts. Breakfast is also available until 11 a.m.

The Pines also offers a full bar with a large assortment of beers, spirits, cocktails, mixed drinks and wine. Visitors can stop in to watch a game inside on the TV or sit on the deck and enjoy the view of Crescent Lake.

The reopening of the restaurant and bar is much welcomed by visiting tourists and the locals who live in the Crescent Lake area.  Mitchell and Horn hope to have the bar and restaurant operating seven days a week by June 14.  As of Thursday, May 27,  the restaurant will be open Thursday through Sunday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
