By ANDREW GRIFFIN/for The Herald — On May 16, the Oakridge City Council held a meeting in which they discussed alcohol permits and announced a release date for the 2024-25 budget.
Early in the meeting, the Council passed motions to approve alcohol permits for each of the following events: The Bus Fair 2024, Concerts in the Park 2024, Sasquatch Festival 2024, Oregon Trail Gravel Grinder 2024 and Triple Summit Challenge 2024.
Additionally, Concerts in the Park 2024 requested a $1,000 fee waiver for the event. “Council decided not to take action on the fee waiver item, which means it falls back on me to decide,” wrote City Administrator James Cleavenger in an email to the Herald. “I will be following the fee waiver policy, which City Council wrote, and approving $1,000 in fee waivers, since they are a 501c(3) charity and thus eligible for up to $1,000 in fee waivers per year.”
The Council then announced dates relating to progress made on Oakridge’s 2024-25 budget. According to Cleavenger, a proposed budget will be sent to Oakridge’s Budget Committee on June 3 and copies will be made available to the public on June 4. Two Budget Committee meetings are planned to be held to review the budget. One will be on June 5 at 6 p.m. and the other on June 11 at 6 p.m. Afterwards, the Council will hold a special meeting to discuss the budget on June 17 at 6 p.m.
