A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed by the family of Marcus Hartsfield. Hartsfield died on the scene after being shot three times by then-officer Steve Davidson. The family of the deceased filed the suit through his estate.
The incident occurred on October 17, 2019 when Davidson was called to respond to a possible suicide in progress. The ensuing events left Hartsfield dead. The lawsuit contains a number allegations against Davidson, the City of Oakridge, as well as against the District Attorney’s office.
Patty Perlow, the District Attorney, identified the shooting as justified in the office’s initial investigation. That report was announced approximately six after the shooting.
