By DAVID GORDON/For The Herald — It is nice to have strangers in high places.
This past week Oakridge Fire and EMS had a difficult call for reaching and bringing out an injured patient up in the woods. Fortunately, two U.S. Forest Service workers, Shiree Mit-Shavez and Chloe Goldade Holbrook, and two off-highway-vehicle riders, Randy Vaughan and Eddy Osborn, all pitched in to help.
We want to publicly thank them all for giving their time and effort with the call. Their help was greatly appreciated. The patient, Mike Osborn, who said I could print his name, was also very grateful for their help.
I have recently become president of the Oakridge Fire Department Volunteer Association and one thing I am wanting to do is show our appreciation when people demonstrate caring about their “neighbor.”
David Gordon of Oakridge is an Advanced EMT volunteer with Oakridge Fire and EMS and has been a 5th-grade teacher at Oakridge since 1993. He is also the varsity softball coach for Oakridge High School.
