At approximately 4:40 pm on Monday evening, a light-duty pickup failed to negotiate a turn near mile post 26 on Highway 58. The pickup was heading East when the accident occurred. it was not known at the immediate time if other cars following the vehicle were also involved in the accident.
A witness to the accident saw, in their rearview mirror, the pickup first cross over into the westbound lane. When attempting to bring the vehicle back into the Eastbound lane, it appeared that the driver overcorrected causing the vehicle to skid into the Westbound lane and collide with the guardrail. The vehicle came to rest on it’s side.
911 was called and emergency vehicles were dispatched to the scene.
The name of the operator of the vehicle is unknown at time of publication. it is also unknown if additional passengers were in the vehicle.
