By GEORGE CUSTER/Editor/The Herald — Fresh with a new coat of cheery red paint on the exterior, Dink’s Market has reopened under new owners. Rareinder Singh, his wife Kamaljeet, and their son Paramjot recently purchased the market.
New Oakridge residents
Rareinder, who goes by Robin, and his family moved to Oakridge from the Portland area after seeing an ad stating that the market was for sale. Though the Singh’s had a small market already, Robin saw Dink’s as an opportunity. Since moving to Oakridge, he states that he and his family really like it here and that people are really nice.
Kamaljeet, who goes by Kamal, Paramjot, who nickname is Param, and a friend help Robin run the store that is open seven days a week from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
If you remember the store, you’ll be surprised. The work that Robin and his family have put into remodeling the interior is first rate. Clean, bright and neatly arranged products are on display. Banks of well lit cooler cases line the walls, displaying a large range of drinks.
Shelves are brimming with seemingly every type of snack imaginable. The scent of prepared “munchies” hits you as you enter the building. The Singhs also sell a special locally-produced, home-made ice cream bar. Let’s not forget about all of your smoking needs being available too. Fishing and hunting licenses will be available at the store, as well.
Get your gun range key here
For you sportsmen and women, a fine array of fishing tackle and targets are on sale. As for the” keeper of the keys” to the gun range, Robin informed me that he is currently in discussion with the president of the range. Robin said he should be assuming that role within a week or so. If you are a shooter or archer, and not a member of the Oakridge Gun Club, consider becoming a member.
