By GEORGE CUSTER/Editor — Reta Doland, the Oakridge School District Superintendent for the past five years, has announced her resignation. Her stated reason for her departure is that it was a professional decision.
A heartfelt message was posted on the Oakridge School District Facebook page. In her missive, she spoke highly of her past work with staff, students and families. Also, Ms. Doland went on to praise the community of Oakridge as a whole, and the many positive connections she has made over the years.
During her tenure, Reta worked to acquire grant funding that resulted in major remodeling and updating of the school buildings. A remodeled gym, locker rooms, and structural rework of many parts of the high school are but a few. A new health center was also added. Many of the upgrades were intended that the high school be designated as a shelter location in the event of a significant emergency. Propane tanks were provided with sufficient storage capacity to be used in the event of a sustained power outage in the city.
Reta Doland was the School District’s leader throughout the difficult and trying times of the COVID pandemic.
Doland’s effective date of resignation is June 30, 2023.
