A truck driver died in a single-vehicle crash early Sunday afternoon, July 27, on Highway 58 east of Oakridge, according to Oregon State Police.
At approximately 12:30 p.m., OSP troopers and emergency personnel responded to the accident near milepost 55. Preliminary investigation revealed that a Freightliner semi-truck, operated by Joe Wright, 57, of Silverton, was eastbound when it left the roadway and went down an embankment.
Wright sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased, the OSP said.
OSP was assisted by Oakridge Fire and EMS, Lane County Search and Rescue, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
