Coming Saturday, July 17: Eugene-based singer-songwriter John Baumann (acoustic guitar/vocals) brings his comfortably worn-in supporting cast of musical blasphemers — Keenan Dorn (electric guitar/pedal steel guitar/vocals) and Joe Hughes (upright bass) — up to the Deep Woods Distillery for an evening of Alt-Americana musical storytelling. The trio, performing as Satori Bob, will be on stage from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Distillery Garden (Insensitive Wetlands), 48217 E. First St. in the historic Uptown district of Oakridge.
Influenced heavily by John Prine and Tom Waits, their music blends energetic styles, open stark ballads and instrumental interplay, creating the solid foundation for their strong lyrical compositions.
The Whiskey Wagon will be providing beverages beginning at 2 p.m. Admission is $5 and the Buen Dia food truck will be on-site serving Mexican cuisine from about 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Other coming attractions this month at Deep Woods Distillery: Stewart’s Roadhouse Band, July 24; Peter Wilde and Laura Kemp, July 31.
3 Legged Crane Pub and Brewhouse
The Oakridge band Song Dawgz will perform from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 15, at 3 Legged Crane Pub and Brewhouse at 48329 E. First St. The trio — Ben Olson, Gary Battles and Keith Dailey — are booked for those hours every Thursday at the pub for the rest of the summer and into fall.
Their Thursday gigs at the pub always include an open-mic session.
Lion Mountain Bakery
Singer-songwriter Broken Horn performs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and on Friday evenings during the 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. dinners at Lion Mountain Bakery at 47781 Highway 58. Accompanying himself on guitar, Broken Horn offers an eclectic mix of rhythm and blues, rock, country, pop and original compositions.
Sunday mornings feature Ben Olson of Oakridge doing a solo ukulele performance for the bakery’s breakfast crowd, beginning at around 9 a.m.
Spotlight Project
Headling the 7 p.m. Sunday, July 18 production of “Spotlight Project Presents” are the band Song Dawgz (see above) and two actors from Zero Clearance Theater Company performing a brief, two-woman play. Jessica Howatt and Holly Olson, both of Oakridge, star as elderly sisters in “The Mating Season for Flying Monkeys.”
Also taking the stage will be host Becky Chamberlain, doing an interview with animal-rescue advocate Trudy Hammond of Oakridge.
Sunday’s production will feature another “Community Corner” segment with interviewer Catrina Davis, as well as another episode of “Mountain Kids Minute.” It’s a short feature hosted by Averi Rhule and her mother Chelsi Rhule, highlighting talented children in the community.
Like the first shows in the series, this one will be live-streamed on Facebook. Anyone can view the program at no charge online by going to https://www.facebook.com/Spotlightingtalent and clicking on The Spotlight Project Presents.
