Wildfires, smoke and renewed COVID-19 restrictions have combined to disrupt the Upper Willamette entertainment scene throughout August, but a wee bit of normalcy may return this weekend with live outdoor music at Deep Woods Distillery and Odell Lake Lodge.
The Oakridge band Stoner is booked to take the stage at 7 p.m. at the Distillery Garden (Insensitive Wetlands), 48217 E. First St. in the historic Uptown district of Oakridge.
Formed as a duo just a year ago, Stoner features Jonathan Chiarella on guitars and vocals with Michael Shawn handling drums and sound. A laser light show is planned.
Chiarella is a widely respected artist who found his way to Westfir in 2004 and put down roots in the community along with Shawn, who was an entertainment industry sound technician in Los Angeles before discovering life in the Upper Willamette.
As before at Deep Woods, the Whiskey Wagon will be providing beverages beginning at 2 p.m. and the Buen Dia food truck will be on-site serving Mexican cuisine.
Other coming attractions at Deep Woods Distillery: Big Sue Band, Sept. 4; Midnight Darlins, Sept. 5.
3 Legged Crane Pub and Brewhouse
The Eugene-area duo HipBillys were booked for Friday evening at the pub, but their show was canceled as a result of tightened COVID-19 restrictions. Regular weekly gigs by the Oakridge band Song Dawgz have also been put on hold because of the resurging coronavirus.
Lion Mountain Bakery
Singer-songwriter Broken Horn performs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and on Friday evenings during the 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. dinners at Lion Mountain Bakery at 47781 Highway 58. Accompanying himself on guitar, Broken Horn offers an eclectic mix of rhythm and blues, rock, country, pop and original compositions.
Sunday mornings normally feature Ben Olson of Oakridge doing a solo ukulele performance for the bakery’s breakfast crowd, but those are on hold because of tightening COVID-19 protocols.
Odell Lake Lodge & Resort
The Song Dawgz of Oakridge are booked for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, and again on Saturday, Sept. 4, on the lodge’s outdoor patio.
