A Klamath County man was killed Wednesday, Aug. 3, in a head-on collision on Highway 58 east of Oakridge, according to Oregon State Police.
The accident was reported at about 3 p.m. near Milepost 61, OSP reports said. A preliminary investigation revealed that a Nissan Sentra, driven by Jerry Edward Anderson, 61, of Gilchrist, was westbound when his vehicle failed to negotiate a corner. The Sentra crossed the eastbound lanes and hit a guardrail. It then went into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a fuel tanker truck and trailer driven by Thomas Michael Jennings, 45, of Eugene.
Anderson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Jennings was uninjured.
OSP was assisted by the Oakridge Fire Department and Central Cascades Fire & EMS.
