By GEORGE CUSTER/Interin Editor — Sunshine and sort-of warm weather brought out lots of shoppers for the annual Sugar Plum Festival that is being held this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, in the Oakridge Elementary School gymnasium. The event was sponsored by the Oakridge Booster Club. Vendors and crafters, as well as a variety of social organizations, were there with enough items on display for purchase to satisfy even the most discerning of holiday shoppers.
The turnout on Saturday was very brisk. Shoppers, moving from booth to booth were eyeing the various assortments of handmade crafts and other items on display, hoping to find just the right gifts for family and friends. All of this helped to create a festive atmosphere for the festival. It was worth noting that, when asked, people agreed that it was nice to have an event that could get them out of the house. Everyone was masked so there were many friends who had to take second looks to recognize their friends.
The Sugar Plum Festival continues tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., so there’s still time to drop by and find that perfect gift for your friends or loved ones.
