Oakridge Mayor Kathy Holston posted the following Saturday morning on her official mayoral Facebook page:
In this morning’s shroud of smoke I am very grateful for so much.
A few days ago I received an early morning phone call from an individual unknown to me. His sole purpose was to ask if he could pray with me for my community. What a kind expression and a lovely way to start my morning.
I am so grateful for the strong spirit that infuses our community when the going gets tough.
I am grateful for the fire command that watches, analyzes, plans, implements and assesses every move in this fight to keep the community safe.
I am grateful for the boots on the ground doing the hard, tough work that I could never even imagine doing.
I am grateful. So on this smoky, depressing and smelly morning, I think I will focus on my gratitude.
Thank you to everyone. You are all in my prayers.
