From The Office of State Representative Dwayne Yunker
SALEM, Ore. – The House Rules Committee held a public hearing today on House Bill 2435, introduced by Representative Dwayne Yunker (R-Grants Pass) to enhance election transparency and restore public trust in the Oregon Secretary of State’s office.
HB 2435 would require the Secretary of State’s Elections Division to publish monthly, county-level voter list maintenance reports, ensuring accuracy and accountability in Oregon’s elections.
“This bill is about transparency and accountability—the foundation of any election system,” said Representative Yunker. “Right now, Oregon’s reporting is inadequate. We need a system that ensures voter rolls are accurate.”
Other states do much more. Oklahoma, for example, produces and publishes on its public-facing website monthly reports detailing totals by county of new registrations, removals due to death or relocation, and other key updates.
HB 2435 is part of a broader Republican-led effort to strengthen election integrity. The committee also heard HB 3468, HB 3470, and HB 3474, which focus on ballot security, election oversight, and voter roll accuracy.
“Oregonians deserve an elections process that is transparent, verifiable, and free from secrecy,” said Representative Yunker. “HB 2435 is a key step in restoring the trust deficit in the Oregon Secretary of State’s office.“
