by LAURA CAMPBELL/Lane Council of Governments — EUGENE, Ore. – One in ten adults in the United States will fall victim to a scam or fraud every year. This December, join Senior & Disability Services (S&DS) and community partners to learn how to be proactive at preventing scams and fraud during its upcoming training series – How to Avoid Scams.
Participants will learn how to spot and avoid scams to protect themselves and their loved ones. Learning a few basic tips on preventing scams and fraud may well keep you from becoming a victim — and save you a great deal of time and trouble.
There are three training opportunities available:
- Monday, December 6thfrom 1:30-2:30 p.m.: Presentation by the Senior & Disability Services Adult Protective Services Unit
- Tuesday, December 7thfrom 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.: Presentation by the Oregon Department of Justice
- Thursday, December 9thfrom 1:30-2:30 p.m.: Presentation by AARP
Each training will be hosted on Zoom, and they are FREE to attend.
