I Wonder…………

By JOY KINGSBURY/For The Herald  — I wonder….. About traffic jams. If we have many electric vehicles stuck in traffic jams, or at road closures, how will they recharge when the batteries go dead? Will they carry a 5 gallon can of electricity in the trunk or on the roof?

What is the plan for storing all the thousands of unusable batteries when the cars are in wrecks or they just wear out? They are quite large and quite lethal, I understand.

Could we put them into orbit? Must ask Elon Musk about the cost there.

Electric vehicles cost 3% more to repair. Unskilled workers, shortage of workers, shortages of chips. Where are the places to take them for repairs? Ask on one

of the freeway callboxes? Do we still have those?

If the hybrids work better, and we have exorbitant prices for gasoline, will a hybrid be better off than a standard gas guzzler? Will they cost less to drive? Will they even be allowed? They use gas.

From where will the power be generated for the thousands of EV’s? From our inexhaustible supply of power here in the Northwest? Will they put solar panels on the roofs of these EV’s? Maybe they could install pedals that could be accessed in an emergency. One for each occupant’s seat. If you have the whole family, or friends with you, it would be a great help.

The Amish solved all these problems years ago. Maybe we need to take a page from their book? But that raises its own issues. Shovels for one.
