By GEORGE CUSTER/Editor — Today, Saturday the 14th of October, you will be able watch the solar eclipse starting at 9:00 this morning. Weather permitting, the moon will pass directly in front of the sun for a brief period.
The effects of the phenomena during the moon’s path in front of the sun are several. The area within the path will turn dark. Things may get eerily quiet. Birds stop chirping and even flying. It felt spooky. I witnessed the solar eclipse of 2019 outside of Corvallis. On that cloudless day the stars came out. A chill feel over the what had been a warm afternoon.
Though I’m currently out of the track of the eclipse, I hope the skies will be clear enough for many of you to witness the event.
WARNING: Wear eye protection when viewing the eclipse. Please read online to ensure that the protection you plan to use is adequate.
Happy viewing.
