AMY BRADLEY of Oakridge, The Herald’s newest correspondent, captured this image not far from her home on High Prairie near Oakridge. The community’s prized Roosevelt elk are frequent visitors to the area.

Amy makes her debut on this news site today with an occasional column (posted below) that will focus on environmental conservation topics of interest to readers in Highway 58 communities.

You can learn more about her and read her previous writing on her Viridescene blog and her gardening website Thyme to Cultivate.

As for her breathtaking photo of the elk in the morning mist: The view is looking west from High Prairie. She took the photograph with a Nikon D3200 camera using a Nikon DX AF-S Nikkor 18-55 mm lens.
