Held as a one-day street fair in August since its inception in 2008, the rescheduled Oakridge Keg & Cask Festival will be held indoors this fall on Nov. 6.
By DOUG BATES/Editor/The Herald — Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow, nor wildfires can keep Oakridge volunteers from putting on the 13th annual community party called the Keg & Cask Festival.
The event’s organizers say they have finalized plans to hold this year’s celebration — originally set for Aug. 13 but canceled because of forest fires raging near Oakridge and Westfir — on Saturday, Nov. 6.
The hours will be noon to 8 p.m., according to festival committee chair Amy Kelley. Instead of it being a street fair as it has always been, the celebration will be held indoors at the city’s former public works building at 47899 Highway 58.

Event coordinators strive to find craft beer, ciders, and mead that can’t be easily found in retail outlets.
“The bands will be the same and in the same order, except for times,” said Kelley, who is also The Herald’s office manager and bookkeeper. The lineup includes Pendleton Highway, Kelly Thibodeaux and Etoufee, and Brian James and the Revival.
A diverse variety of Oregon wineries and breweries will offer tastings, and a number of food and crafts vendors are registered to be on site. There is no charge for admission to the festival, although entry to the brew garden requires the purchase of tickets, which also get you a souvenir logo glass.
Founded in 2008 by local beer connoisseurs at the request of the Oakridge-Westfir Chamber of Commerce, the Keg & Cask Festival has steadily grown into a popular Lane County event. Proceeds benefit the Oakridge Food Box, the charitable program that depends on the festival as its main source of funding each year.
More information, including a list of sponsors, can be found on the festival’s website.
