A Level 3 evacuation order was issued for those living south of Highway 140 and north-northeast of Bonanza.

By DOUG BATES/Editor/The Herald — In an unusually early start to the wildfire season, cloudless skies over Oakridge-Westfir were hazed Sunday and Monday by smoke from a Southern Oregon wildfire that resulted in a Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation order by Klamath County Emergency Management.

As of Monday, the Cutoff Fire near Bonanza and Bly had grown to 1,500 acres with no containment and was threatening 125 structures, according to a press release from Klamath County Emergency Management, Oregon Department of Forestry and the Bureau of Land Management Lakeview District.

The blaze is burning on BLM land about 6 miles north of Bonanza, a small town in Klamath County. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, officials said.

Klamath emergency officials ordered evacuation for the area east of Bly Mountain Cutoff Road, west of Hummingbird Drive and south to Keno Springs Road. A level 2 “Get Set” evacuation order is in place for the area east of Bly Mountain Cutoff Road, north to Keno Springs Road, west of Forest Service Road 3812 and 3 miles south.

A level 1 “Get Ready” evacuation order warning was issued for the area east of Bly Mountain Cutoff Road, north to Highway 140 and Kingfisher Drive, west of Hummingbird Drive and south to Grizzly Lane.
