By GEORGE CUSTER/Editor/The Herald — The road work that is being done along Highway 58 in town is just a patching job. Knife River Corporation was awarded the contract for the work from the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT).
Brian Reichert, of Knife River, explained that the patching is being done because of the severe wear along the ‘B’ lanes on each side of the highway. ODOT refers to the lanes as either ‘A’ lanes or ‘B’ lanes. ‘A’ lanes are the inside, or fast lane of travel. The ‘B’ lane is the outside, or slow lane. Brian said that the ‘B’ lane was in much need of repair due to its use.
The job was scheduled to take until tomorrow. However, Brian said that they would probably be done today.
