Residents under an evacuation notice are encouraged to start making plans and moving large animals and pets.
Oakridge-area residents under an evacuation notification can bring their large animals and livestock to the horse arena at Lane Events Center (796 W. 13th Avenue, Eugene) if they have no other option for their animals.
People must call or text Lane County Animal Services at 541-285-8227 before arriving at Lane Events Center; please leave a detailed message if your call is missed.
Donations of hay and other supplies for large animals are being accepted at Lane Events Center, as well.
Under a Level 2 (Be Set) evacuation notification, livestock owners should consider:
- Your hauling vehicle(s) should be hooked up to your trailer(s) and ready to leave at a moment’s notice.
- Depending on your situation and the number of livestock you own, if you are relying on someone else to transport your animals ensure that person is on their way to help remove your animals.
- Begin transporting all livestock (don’t forget a plan for your chickens!) and take everything you might need. You may not have the chance to return to your property.
- Make the best decision for your safety and that of your livestock. IF YOU FEEL UNSAFE, DON’T WAIT TO EVACUATE.
If you are unable to evacuate your animals, fill out the form located online to provide information to Lane County Animal Services for possible assistance.
Small Animals
Oakridge-area residents under an evacuation notification can bring their companion animals to Greenhill Humane Society if they have no other option for their animals. Space is limited, so residents should call Greenhill at 541-689-1503 before arriving.
Greenhill can also help provide evacuees with crates and pet food, as well. Donations are being accepted to help support evacuated companion animals. Contact Greenhill before making a donation of goods.
Under a Level 2 (Be Set) evacuation notification, companion animal owners should consider:
- Ensure all dogs are wearing their identifying tags and collars. Don’t forget your leashes!
- Confine domestic cats in carriers and/or areas they cannot escape.
- Bring proof of vaccination paperwork and photos of your animals to aid in reunification should you become separated.
- If time allows, check your animal “go kit” for completeness. Suggestions: Food, medications, water, bowls, litter boxes, litter and bags for waste disposal.
