Lane County’s Transportation Advisory Committee (TrAC) has three vacant seats to fill – nearly half of the overall committee seats.
“We know it’s hard to commit to one more thing right now, but we really want to see people who are passionate about transportation and access join the Committee,” said Lane County Transportation Planning Supervisor Sasha Vartanian. “Serving on the TrAC is a great way to make sure your community is represented in transportation decisions – and serving on advisory committees is often a great starting point for people who are interested in public service or public office.”
The seats must be filled by at least one person from West Lane County, one person from North Eugene and the remaining seat can be filled by a person from anywhere in Lane County.
“Rural representation is so important,” said Vartanian. “Most of the decisions we make at Lane County directly affect residents living in rural communities and we need their voices at the table.”
The TrAC acts as a forum for public input into the County’s transportation system and serves as a liaison group in representing transportation concerns of the community to the Board of County Commissioners.
The Committee meets in the evening of every fourth Wednesday of every other month. Meetings are currently held online. There are a total of seven members – one from each commissioner’s district and two at-large members.
To qualify, applicants for the District 1 (West Lane) position must live or own property within District 1. Applicants for the District 4 (North Eugene) position must live or own property within District 4. Applicants for the at-large position must live or own property within Lane County.
Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on April 8, 2021. Applications are available at www.lanecounty.org/volunteer.
