The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but may have been related to a generator that was running inside the garage of the residence. The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind residents to always run generators outside, and follow manufacturer’s recommendations when connecting electrical equipment. George Custer lives in Oakridge with his wife Sayre. George is a former smokejumper from his hometown of Cave Junction, a former captain in the U.S. Marine Corps. and ran a construction company in Southern California.
