By GEORGE CUSTER/Editor — I always get a kick out of reading these letters to Santa from the school kids. You can just imagine the angst these children are putting forth while writing out their wish list. If they are difficult to read because of the lightness of the images, it started with the handwriting. When I received them, I had a difficult time reading them also. But it’s worth the effort. Mr. McGill explains the motive behind the letters.
“Each year before winter break, my second graders partake in a writing exercise called Santa Letters. The goal of this writing activity is to learn to write a rough draft, then self-edit, then work with a writing partner to further edit, and lastly the students publish their final draft.” Rich McGill, OES second grade teacher.
To the parents: You are blessed to have such wonderful children.
