Below is a reprint of Mayor Kathy Holston’s letter of resignation. It was delivered to the City Administrator’s desk prior to Thursday’s City Council. regular session:
Council,
I have chosen to resign as Mayor of Oakridge. This was not done lightly or with ease but due to the lack of vision in this council, the lack of understanding of the impact your decisions have on the stability of this community and your inability to present solutions that not only undermine and disrespect the employees of the city and citizens themselves who disagree with you, I am left with no other choice.
I will not be party to what I foresee coming. Having brought the city through 4 city administrators, 3 finance directors, 2 emergency declarations, and succeeded in establishing the reputation of Oakridge on the plus side within our county I can do no more and am unwilling to argue over everything for the sake of arguing.
I would urge you to examine your effectiveness and your commitment to the entire community and either change your methods or move aside and let others lead this community.
Respectfully
Kathy Nichols Holston
