Oakridge City Council candidate forum planned for October 9th
A City of Oakridge City Council candidate forum planned for Tuesday, October 9, 2024, in the auditorium of Oakridge High School, 47994 West 1st Street. The two-hour forum – hosted by the League of Women Voters of Oregon and the Oakridge/Westfir Area Chamber of Commerce – will begin at 6p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The event will be hosted in person. All seven of the candidates for city office have been invited to participate. There are five candidates running for the three open four-year seats. These candidates are: Kelly Brewer, Aaron Davis, Bee Havior, Chrissy Hollett, and Marty Scott. There are two candidates running for the one open two-year seat, and they are: Dan Barclay and Thaddeus F. Carter. Audience members will be able to submit questions for the moderator to pose to the candidates. Questions from the audience will be screened for appropriateness, relevancy to the issues, and repetition by hosts. Questions will be read aloud by the moderator to the candidates. Each candidate will be offered limited time to answer to allow for all to respond. |
George Custer lives in Oakridge with his wife Sayre. George is a former smokejumper from his hometown of Cave Junction, a former captain in the U.S. Marine Corps. and ran a construction company in Southern California. George assumed the volunteer duties as the Editor of the Highway 58 Herald in 2022. He loves riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, building all things wood, and playing drums on the weekends in his office.
