The Oakridge City Council voted unanimously Thursday night to appoint Don Grant to a term on the city planning commission.
Grant, a licensed general contractor, said he has lived full-time in Oakridge for about four years. He will serve the remaining three years of a four-year seat that was open on the commission.
In other business, the council spent nearly two hours discussing a proposed public safety fee. No apparent progress was made in settling council differences on the issue.
