The Major Blunders Chess Club is sponsoring a Championship Chess Tournament on Sunday October 29 at 2 p.m. at the Oakridge City Library.

The first-place winner will be awarded $100 while the first-place winner on the Scholastic Level will receive $50. Registration fee is $10 and the Scholastic entry fee is $5.

Important: Register at the front desk at the library. The clubs need to have an idea of the number of entrants. Reminder: Come to Chess Club on Sundays at 2 p.m. to up your skills.

In other library news, the out-of-town fee for a library card has been raised to $20. Also, the overdue fees have increased to 25 cents per day. A reminder: You may renew your books by a phone call to 541-782-2258 ext. 9.
The Oakridge Library’s Seed Library would like you to share the non-hybrid seeds you have saved from your harvest this year. There is a box on the front desk for that purpose. Label the seeds with the name of the seed, type, your name and any planting or growing advice you may have to share. This is the way the seed harvest maintains itself. Check out some seeds and return some seeds.

The Library Board is sponsoring a “Library After Dark” fundraiser on October 29 at 6 p.m. There will be a silent auction and beer and wine will be served. Proceeds will go to the library’s new acquisitions fund and will be used for both children’s and adult materials.
