By GEORGE CUSTER/Editor/The Herald  —  On Tuesday, November 19th, the City of Oakridge planning commission met to deliberate a major site plan. Upon reviewing an application submitted by Texas Pride Trailers, the commission heard testimony from Louis Gomez who represented the trailer manufacturer. Gomez was prepared to answer any questions or concerns that the commission might have.

Texas Pride Trailers, home-based in Madisonville, Texas, has eight other facilities across the country, with Oakridge constituting one of their most recent locations.

As of recent, Oakridge has been a sales outlet for the popular trailer manufacturer. However, with the recent approval of their plan to move forward, the next phase of Texas Pride’s plan is to build a maintenance and warrantee facility on one of the two large lots they own in the Oakridge Industrial Park.

The owner of Texas Pride Trailers, Jim Bray, eluded that a phase three project, if implemented, would be a manufacturing facility, necessitating the need for a sizable local work force. You can visit Texas Pride’s website at All Trailers – Texas Pride.

Mr. Gomez, the Oakridge site manager for Texas Pride, cruised through the site review, with few questions coming from the commission. Gomez stated in his closing remarks to the city planners that, “We are prepared to do whatever is needed to comply with the city’s wishes.”

The site plan, approved by a unanimous vote from the planning commission must still wait an additional ten-day period before work on the new facility can begin. This time is afforded to the public to submit comments that may be against the project.
