Lane County Waste Management will open the Oakridge transfer site (48977 Kitson Springs Road) from noon to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, so residents returning home after a multi-day power outage can dispose of food waste.

According to the USDA, a refrigerator will keep food safe for up to 4 hours during a power outage. Discard refrigerated perishable food such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and leftovers after 4 hours without power.

After a power outage never taste food to determine its safety.
