By GEORGE CUSTER/Editor — It’s nothing that we probably didn’t already know. Maybe you saw the article. The article was written by Kaleigh Moore for A-Z Animals. The article has Odell Lake as the seventh and Crescent Lake as the eleventh best fishing lakes in Oregon.
I’ve made a few comments privately that the Oregon State Fish and Wildlife people don’t seem to get up to our local lakes to find out the status of fishing around here. They send out a regular status report about the best fishing around the State but have never mentioned Odell or Crescent. We know better. I keep cancelling their report unless there is something I feel would be of interest to our readers. Anyway, A-Z Animals and Kaleigh Moore did a nice article on The 12 Best Fishing Lakes in Oregon.
You might be thinking “Great, let’s keep the secret to ourselves, we don’t need the crowds.” I agree. However, I feel a little slighted that our nearby lakes don’t get the publicity they rightfully deserve. Maybe I’m over-hyping it.
Rob DeHarpport gives us the real scoop
I have come to rely on our outdoor report from Rob DeHarpport. Not only does he do an excellent job of reporting in my opinion, his photos are beautiful and inspiring. I hope Rob reads this. I have gotten several positive feedbacks on his column.
When I read his article while sitting at my desk, I think “I could be doing something like this.” I’m a little jealous. I’m not so much a fisherman as I am your basic outdoors person. Regardless, not only does Rob write a great and detailed report, you can see that he definitely enjoys what he’s doing. You can hear it in his words. Gotta love a guy who’s getting the most out of his retirement.
I try to keep an eye out for interesting articles that relate to the Willamette national Forest – our back yard. So, If any of you read an article or story that you think I should share with our readers, please don’t hesitate to let me know. If it works, I’ll check it out.
