Southern Oregon Veterans Stand Down and Employment Fair Set for July 24 in White City

The Southern Oregon Veterans Stand Down and Employment Fair is set to take place this Wednesday, July 24, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the VA SORCC Museum/Community Center in White City. (8495 Crater Lake Highway, White City, OR).

This free one-day event will provide a one-stop connection for veterans in the community to key services. There will be breakfast and lunch provided and below is the full list of services and resources that will be available:

• Employment Fair
• Legal Services
• Mental Health Services
• Oregon DMV
• VA Eligibility
• VA Homeless Programs
• VA Justice Outreach
• Veterans Benefits Office
• Free Haircuts
• Lunch and refreshments
• Veterans Service Officers
• And much more

Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs Invites LGBTQ+ Veterans to Visit Veteran Villages During Pride Celebrations Throughout Oregon

The Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs invites all LGBTQ+ Veterans to join them and other agencies at the LGBTQ+ Veterans Village during 2024 Pride Celebrations throughout Oregon.

Each LGBTQ+ Veterans Village hosts dozens of state and local agencies. Visit during Pride events for help accessing health care, education resources, veteran benefits, housing services, employment and vocational services and much more. All services are free and confidential. ODVA’s LGBTQ+ Veteran Coordinator will also be on site at each Pride Celebration listed to share information about veteran benefits and resources, discharge status upgrades and military records corrections, and answer any other questions veterans might have.

Veterans interested in attending the LGBTQ+ Veterans Village can do so at two upcoming Pride Celebrations which are listed below:

Portland Pride Waterfront Festival & Parade

Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall to be Displayed at The Oregon Veterans’ Home – The Dalles July 22-24

The Oregon Department of Veterans’ Affairs invites people to join them at Oregon Veterans’ Home – The Dalles (700 Veterans Dr, The Dalles, OR 97058) for the Opening Ceremony of the Oregon Memorial Traveling Wall on July 22 at 10:00 a.m.

Hear from Dr. Nakeia Council Daniels, Director of ODVA, Linda Adams, Board Chair of Veterans Care Centers of Oregon, and Steve Lawrence, former Mayor of The Dalles and Vietnam Veteran.

Those unable to make the opening ceremony will still have a chance to see the Memorial Wall as it will be open to the public from July 22 to July 24 until 5:00 p.m. each day. To learn more about the event or for any questions, please call (541) 296-7190.
