BRIDGE JOB NEARLY FINISHED: Lane County crew members are expected to complete the Parvin Covered Bridge project in the Dexter area this month and traffic is expected to resume on Sept. 24.
The road has been closed since Aug. 9 while Lane County Road Maintenance crew members replaced siding and made small repairs. They will soon complete painting the bridge, reports Devon Ashbridge, Lane County public relations officer.
The one-lane bridge is one of 17 covered bridges the county is responsible for maintaining. The bridge was built in 1921 to replace the original 1880s structure. It was closed to traffic for several years in the 1970s and ‘80s before reopening in 1986 after extensive renovation. The 75-foot bridge crosses Lost Creek and is a covered timber Howe truss design.
