Lane County currently has funding for low-income Oakridge/Westfir residents to receive assistance with their utility bills. This funding is from American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA) through the Low Income Household Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and must be used by September 30, 2022. This program can pay for electric, natural gas, propane, heating oil or firewood.
If you have not received assistance from LIHEAP ARPA since October 2021, your household may be eligible. Please call 541-682-3314 or visit http://www.lanecountyor.gov/energyassistance for more information or to get on the list for bill payment assistance. |
George Custer lives in Oakridge with his wife Sayre. George is a former smokejumper from his hometown of Cave Junction, a former captain in the U.S. Marine Corps. and ran a construction company in Southern California. George assumed the volunteer duties as the Editor of the Highway 58 Herald in 2022. He loves riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, building all things wood, and playing drums on the weekends in his office.
