By JOY KINGSBURY/For The Herald — Robert and Yui Phillips and two-year old greeter, daughter Rain, who “Hi’s” all customers with a big smile, welcomed all of Oakridge to a Thai food feast on December 22nd. The event was in honor of their welcome to Oakridge and the success of their business through the Covid restrictions of the past two years.
They have enjoyed the patronage of Oakridge and have met many wonderful friends. Robert and Yui used the internet to send a survey ahead of time asking their customers for suggestions for the menu. With replies, they were able to serve the most popular and best loved dishes.
The tables were groaning with to-go boxes filled with customers favorites: pot stickers, spring rolls, crab and cream cheese won-tons, soup, two kinds of rice, orange chicken, yellow curry chicken, and Thai tea. They opened the doors at 1:00pm and served 339 persons by 4:00pm that day. Smiling customers happily expressed thanks and good cheer!
Yui, in her charming accent said, “We would like to give back to all our valued customers celebrating Christmas and welcome Happy Lucky New Year for everyone. Please feel free to come pick up the food. Thank you so much from our bottom heart for always support our family.”
Robert and Yui will close Rim Nam temporarily on the 10th of January and fly away to family in Bangkok, Thailand for a well-earned visit with parents, family and friends who anxiously await them. The family back home in Thailand will meet two-year old Rain for the first time, which creates a great deal of excitement in their circles. Robert, Yui and Rain, will return in April. Due to the uncertainty of airline schedules and possible delays in travel, they are unable to fix an exact date they will re-open the doors. The target being mid-month.
We wish them safe travel, a wonderful reunion with family and friends, and a welcome return to Oakridge.
