Hello valued readers,
As you may know, I’m the editor-in-chief at the Highway 58 Herald. Our newsroom exists to provide accurate, unbiased, comprehensive news and information to the communities along the Oregon Highway 58 corridor.
I’m reaching out because The Herald has been selected to participate in NewsMatch, a national movement that leverages the power of matching gifts to build a groundswell of support for quality journalism in our communities and around the country.
The vision is clear: to ensure people in our readership area or around the country have access to news that impacts rural communities.
Income from advertising makes up only a small portion of our revenue. Instead, this type of fact-based journalism depends on community support. That’s why NewsMatch is building a pool of matching funds. These funds will be part of a catalyst to inspire thousands of readers and community members to invest in our work. All donations made between November 1 through December 31 will be doubled.
NewsMatch will double our efforts here at home up to $13,000!
Last year, nearly 800 supporters joined this movement by contributing over $5.5 million to be used toward matching funds to hundreds of nonprofit newsrooms around the country. Their investment had a tremendous multiplier effect and helped unlock more than $38 million in individual donations during last year’s NewsMatch campaign.
Please support The Herald and rural Oregon journalism with your much needed donation. If you would prefer to make a yearly donation by monthly installments, the amount of your monthly pledge will be multiplied times twelve to be calculated for the match contribution.
If you appreciate what The Herald is about, please make as generous a contribution that you can. Please use the yellow “DONATE” button on the right side of the dropdown bar near the top of the page. Or, you may send your donation to: Highway 58 Herald, 47464 Hwy58, Oakridge, OR 97463.
The Highway 58 Herald is a registered 501c(3) nonprofit. All of your donations are tax deductible.
Sincerely,
