By GEORGE CUSTER/Editor — No balloons, no air dummies to catch your eye. To walk into the recently opened Sacred Spiral is to feel a calmness that maybe drew you there in the first place. Healing crystals, stones, gems, and all things that will help you feel like the person you should be is available in Sacred Spiral. The shop also has an extensive variety of gifts and clothing.
Though trained in Shamanism, Bree has transformed her work into a personal cross-cultural Shamanism. Also, she has reserved a space within her shop that will soon be opened as a healing space. There, one can relax as Bree uses crystals, minerals, and tuning forks to help relieve issues that are within your body and put you in a better space.
Looking for a place to settle
Bree Crane is the owner of the establishment. She and her husband, John, and their son, Journey, Now live in Oakridge.
However, it took a while to get here. Bree and John are originally from Saginaw Michigan. Being young and daring, they followed John’s love of theater to the hip Seattle scene. Leaving Seattle and venturing to LA is probably another story in itself. After a brief stint there, they headed to Portland.
“Funny thing” said Bree, “while we were in Portland, several people asked us if we were from Eugene.” That stirred a curiosity that prompted them to go to Eugene. John worked at Falling Sky Brewing for a while. However, he wanted to learn the brewing side of the business.
With that goal in mind, John worked his way into Plank Town Brewing Company in Springfield. Bree worked as manager at Jambo World Gifts in Eugene. The shop’s owner lived on the Coast and eventually asked Bree if she would like to purchase the store. The store, under her ownership, has done so well that she decided to open Sacred Spiral in Oakridge.
The Crane family landed in Oakridge
The Cranes came to the Oakridge area often to go camping. John started helping out at the Brewer’s Union 180, now the Three Legged Crane. Get it? The Crane family of three. Having a degree in teaching, art, and photography, Bree designed the logo for the “Crane” as well as her own shop logo.
Though the Cranes purchased the pub three years ago, it took two of those years commuting from the valley until things worked out to enable them to move to Oakridge.
When Bree heard about the space that had previously been occupied by BoHo Chateau becoming available, she saw the opportunity to expand her business into Oakridge. It has taken the better part of this year to get the space ready for her to move in. However, Bree has decided to open without a lot of fanfare. Quietly – like Bree herself.
Sacred Spiral is located at 48319 E. 1st Street in Oakridge. Hours of operation: Thursday through Sunday 2 – 7 p.m. Bree’s shop can be see at Http://shopbreesway.com. She can also be reached by phone at (458) 675-9140.
