Senior Meals Program Hosting 0.5k Race Fundraiser
Senior & Disability Services, a division of Lane Council of Governments (LCOG), is hosting its 4th annual A Race for the Rest of Us! It’s happening Sunday, August 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Oakshire Brewing Public House in Eugene. This race will raise money for LCOG’s Senior Meals Program, which provides food to Lane County seniors who might otherwise go hungry.
The distance is a whopping 0.5k – nope, that is not a typo! That is a half kilometer or about one third of a mile, or about 546 yards, or about 1,640 feet, or about twice as far as the average good golfer can hit a golf ball off a tee – you get the idea.
Come walk/run/roll with us or do it on your own time. Unable to join the race in person? There are two virtual options this year! You can choose from the 0.5k, or if you are someone who still wants to support the race but are looking for a longer distance, there is an option of a 5k.
Every participant receives a T-shirt, a finisher’s medal, and a race sticker to show off your race completion and your support for Senior Meals! Have you seen those oval stickers on the back of someone’s car with the numbers on them? Yup, like that, only much cooler! When you join us in person for the event, you’ll also receive a FREE VooDoo Doughnut and $1 off pints at Oakshire.
