The Lane County Sheriff’s Office, after asking for the public’s help in locating 54-year-old Abdul Lamont, called off
the search Monday, Nov. 15, after the missing man was found dead.
“We are sad to report that Mr. Lamont was located deceased in a field on a property not far from his residence,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement Monday. “Medical conditions and exposure are being investigated as possible factors in his death. There appears to be no signs of foul play at this time.”
Lamont was reported missing by his roommate on Nov. 10. Lamont unexpectedly left his address in the 83300 block of Enterprise Road in Pleasant on foot on Sunday, Nov. 7. Lamont left behind most of his personal property and did not appear to make any preparations for travel. This type of behavior was not typical of him, reports said.
Although Lamont’s destination was unknown, he was believed to possibly have friends in the McKenzie Bridge and Creswell areas. He also has previously frequented the Saturday Market in downtown Eugene. Lamont has a cell phone but it has not been active since he was reported missing.
Lamont was described as a black male adult standing approximately 5-foot-8-inches tall and weighing approximately 145 pounds. He has black/gray hair and brown eyes. He was last observed wearing a brown corduroy jacket, jeans and gray slippers.
