By DEAN REA/Correspondent/The Herald—The driver of a car believed to be connected with an earlier Pleasant Hill shooting incident was apprehended Saturday after a car chase on Interstate 5, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office reports.
The car was one of two being sought by the sheriff’s office after shots were reported fired in the North Morningstar and Enterprise roads area in Pleasant Hill on July 23.
A trooper spotted one of the vehicles, a Mitsubishi, and attempted a traffic stop at 8:30 a.m. Police said the car backed into the officer’s car and fled. Troopers and deputies pursued the vehicle, which was stopped after spike strips were deployed. During the chase a firearm was discharged and thrown out of the Mitsubishi, police said.
Jennifer Lynn Robertson, 39, was identified as the driver of the Mitsubishi. She faces charges stemming from today’s and last week’s incidents, including criminal conspiracy, hit and run, reckless endangering, reckless driving, attempt to elude, escape in the third degree, interfering with police, felon in possession of a firearm and attempted assault in the first degree. She was lodged at the Lane County Jail.
Jesse Johnson, 38, was identified as the passenger of the Mitsubishi on Saturday. He was lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges related to today’s and last week’s incidents including reckless endangering, interfering with police, felon in possession of a firearm, criminal conspiracy, menacing, unlawful use of a weapon, attempted assault in the first degree and offensive littering.
Meanwhile, the sheriff’s deputies would like to speak with the occupant or occupants of a silver Volkswagen Golf that was in the area of North Morningstar and Enterprise roads at about 8:30 p.m. on July 23. The phone number: 541-682-4150.
