Having purchased the two largest lots then available in the Oakridge Industrial Park (OIP) several years ago, Texas Pride Trailers is finally here. Many locals wondered if the Trailer manufacturer out of Madisonville, Texas would ever make a showing.
Some things take time for a reason
While we were trying to figure out why they hadn’t started their promised business sooner, they were working on a plan. A big plan. Jim Bray, owner of Texas Pride, arrived in town in 2019 to consider Oakridge as a strategic landing spot for his business. He also had several other irons in the fire at the time. Texas Pride closed on the OIP properties late that same year.
Soon thereafter, they opened another site in Utah. Fast forward: Texas Pride now has added seven locations in as many states, with Oakridge being the most recent addition. Most recently, the company opened their location in East Bend, North Carolina.
Micah Brett, manager of Texas Pride’s Oakridge branch, has been working through the permit process to comply with the City’s requirements. The Company will initially be required to operate under a conditional use permit. The long-range plan is to establish Oakridge as a manufacturing facility.
Micah has not been sitting around waiting for trailers to roll in. The temporary fence has been rented and installed on the lot, and security cameras purchased and installed. An office has also been dropped on the premises. Plans are forthcoming for the company’s permanent building.
The Texas pipeline runs straight to Oakridge
During recent travels to Southern California, my wife and I happened to go through Perris, California. We decided to take a short detour and visit Texas Pride’s location there.
Once there, we met the sales staff. Looking around the yard, we saw approximately two dozen more trailers. “They’re all sold, we’re just waiting for replacements.” said manager Justin Carbahal. Great crew down there. They all said they like working for Texas Pride. Trailers will be manufactured in the company’s Madisonville, TX facility and shipped direct to Oakridge. I believe many in Oakridge will join me in saying welcome to the neighborhood. Please visit their website www.texaspridetrailers.com.
