There’ll be a hot time in the old town all weekend May 6-8: Oakridge businesses are stepping out with special offerings Tree Planting weekend

May 6-8 is a jam-packed weekend of traditional events associated with the 69th  annual Oakridge-Westfir Tree Planting Festival, and the business community is supporting the festivities in a big way.

The uptown district on East 1st Street is a walking neighborhood perfect for lingering in shops and eateries full of art, music, great food and refreshments.

Friday, May 6 Art Works, Boho Chateau, Mane Street Coffee, and 3 Legged Crane Pub and Brewhouse are hosting 1st Friday Art Walk from 5-7 p.m. Kathy Ariosa, Dana Tracy Gibbons, and Krys Carter are featured local artists. While Mane Street Coffee and 3 Legged Crane are eateries with great menu offerings, Art Works and Boho Chateau will also have refreshments. 1st Friday Art Walk will be a monthly affair the first Friday of each month.

Tree Planting weekend a few more breakfast options are available. Saturday morning, May 7, The Corner Bar will open at 9 a.m. for a Bloody Mary and Burrito Brunch. Special occasions require special attention and restaurateur, Rob Henderson is stepping up to serve the community and join the festivities.

The Women of the Moose are serving Mother’s Day breakfast Sunday morning, May 8, from 9 a.m. til noon. The buffet-style menu is biscuits and sausage gravy, chicken fried steak, Potatoes O’Brien, scrambled eggs, sausage patties, bacon, fruit, and waffles. Every mother in attendance receives a free MomMosa [Mimosa]. A specialty Bloody Mary will also be available at the no host bar. All ages are welcome for breakfast, members, and non-members as well.

Middle Fork Bistro kicks off their 2022 opening Tree Planting weekend. On Friday May 6 they’ll open from 5 til 8 p.m. Saturday May 7 they’ll open from 10 a.m. til 2 p.m. then later from 5 until 8 p.m. Stop in to say hello to Rick and Lindsey, you’ll be glad you did.

Parade day, May 7, Big Mountain Pizza will discount all pizzas, any size by 10%.

Saturday, May 7, music will be a welcome offering after a full day of traditional festivities. Satori Bob appears at Deep Woods Distillery at 1 p.m. featuring Keenan Dorn. Cover charge is $4. The 3 Legged Crane Pub and Brewhouse has live music with the wildly popular, Peter Wilde appearing with Holy Smokes at 7 p.m. Gerry Snyder will be a guest DJ at the Logger’s Den, 7 p.m.

If you’re from Oakridge, please come home for everything our little mountain town has to offer. There are approximately 180 motel rooms, over 80 AirBnB’s, two RV parks, tons of great food and drink, art and music galore. And let’s not forget so many good friends we’ve all known for years and years.
